Handbook of psychology and general clinical
psychopathology
Up to now there have been no overall
theoretical representations of the history of subjectivity or its
psychopathologic vicissitudes, from birth to adulthood. The intention of the
authors of this general clinical psychology and psychopathology handbook is to
correct this deficiency by presenting the rigorous implications of the process
by which the baby, the child, the child in the latency stage and the adolescent
build their own psychic life with respect to the parental universe and the
interrelations it consists of.
By reflecting the psychoanalytic
theories and practices, the authors first retrace the psychic history of
reality; then they present the mostly unconscious reasons that include
psychopathology’s forms of expressions. They also approach the contribution
neurosciences brought to the field of psychopathology. The projective approach finally adds up to
this overall undertaking, offering a method for the mediation of understanding
subjectivity, which is inherent to the clinician.
Built up in this manner, the handbook
addresses everybody, students, young professionals and experienced
psychologists, eager to have an up-to-date overview on the acquaintance with
the clinical approach of the psychic life and its psychopathology’s forms.
On Sunday, October 28th 2012, 10.30 – 11.00, Trei Publishing House launches the
book
Psychodynamics of
human development
E. Rayner, A. Joyce,
M. Twyman, C. Clulow
Starting with a discussion on birth and childhood, the
reader is led throughout each of the fundamental stages of human development.
The authors reveal the complex interaction between physical, emotional and
psychological factors that contribute to the development individual patterns,
which make each of us be unique. All the important moments of life are covered,
including adolescence, work, parenthood and old age. The book demonstrates the
special value of psychodynamic ideas in understanding certain well-known daily
phenomena, such as the small child’s attachment to his/her mother, the attitude
towards authority during adolescence, the middle age crisis.
This introduction to human development, which is extremely accessible and written without the use of a specialized vocabulary, combines scientific objectivity with a sensitive and witty approach for the psychology of each age.
Eric Rayner is a training psychoanalyst at the British Institute of Psychoanalysis.
Angela Joyce is a psychoanalyst for children and adults and a psychotherapist on the parent-child relationship at the Anna Freud Center in London.
James Rose is a psychoanalyst in private practice and a psychotherapist at the Brandon Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy for Young People, in Kentish Town, London.
Mary Twyman is a psychoanalyst in private practice.
Christopher Clulow is a lecturer and researcher at the Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships.
